Dr. Kyung-Hoon Sun is widely recognized as one of the key figures who transformed Korean dentistry from a domestic medical service into a globally exportable healthcare system. More than an accomplished clinician, he is a system builder, international consultant, and educator who has played a central role in elevating the global standing of Korean dental medicine.

Foundation of Elite Clinical Expertise

Dr. Sun’s professional foundation was established through advanced training at leading institutions in the United States. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, followed by a Fellowship in Dental Implantology at New York University.
This rigorous international training positioned him at the forefront of implantology and reconstructive dentistry long before such techniques became widely adopted in Korea.

In 1997, he founded Sun Dental Hospital, where he has since accumulated decades of experience in complex implant surgery and full-mouth reconstruction. The hospital holds two landmark distinctions:

• The first dental hospital to perform implant placement in the Daejeon–Chungcheong region
• The only private, non-university dental hospital officially designated as a training (Suryeon) hospital

This rare institutional status forms the backbone of Sun Dental Hospital’s current international dentist training programs.

Global Consultant Exporting Korean Dental Systems

Dr. Sun’s influence extends far beyond clinical practice. He is internationally recognized for exporting Korea’s advanced dental hospital model through comprehensive “total consulting”—a framework that integrates clinical protocols, hospital design, operational management, and professional training.

Key International Projects

• Vietnam Dental Hospital Establishment (2017)
  As lead consultant for the VietDoctor Group, Dr. Sun directed the establishment of Hanoi’s first dedicated dental hospital and screening center.
• Bali Nurah Hospital Dental Consulting (2024)
  Provided end-to-end consulting for the Dental Department of Nurah Hospital in Bali, Indonesia, directly transferring Korean hospital operation and education systems.

These projects represent not simple technology transfer, but the full globalization of Korean dental healthcare standards.



Leadership in Medicine, Diplomacy, and Industry

Dr. Sun’s leadership spans multiple domains. He previously served as Honorary Consul of Romania and has been actively serving as Honorary Consul of Sweden since 2025, reflecting his trusted role in international diplomacy.

In parallel, since April 2021, he has served as CEO of Insstek, a leading metal 3D-printing company, driving innovation at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and medical applications. This role further expands his influence into industrial and technological convergence within healthcare.
